I would have loved to see the "real" EPCOT come to fruition, because to me, no matter what Walt came up with was a dream come true.

-notsoanonymous :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23143199.post-1143252512790298232006-03-24T18:08:00.000-08:002006-03-24T18:08:00.000-08:00Thanks for your nice comments -- please do feel fr...Thanks for your nice comments -- please do feel free to send my blog to your friends or to link it at your own blog! Something that hits home: car accidents would be less frequent at EPCOT. Maybe one day we will have Peoplemovers to go from here to there - but not in our lifetimes at this rate.

This blog should be advertised more.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23143199.post-1143173655652622402006-03-23T20:14:00.000-08:002006-03-23T20:14:00.000-08:00Sad to report, but Disney gave up on Celebration a...Sad to report, but Disney gave up on Celebration a couple of years back and sold it. If they only had Walt or someone like him (Lasseter?) to push the creative limits when they undertook that project, there's no telling what it might have been.
The Palm Island project in Dubai appears to be the closest modern day equivalent to Walt's initial concept for EPCOT. It is a planned community built from the ground (actually the ocean) up and is intended both as a tourist destination as well as a home for some. It even includes a monorail!
I see a project like this being undertaken and I'm reminded that Walt's idea for EPCOT was not so far fetched. If only there was someone at Disney with such grand creative vision.
Here's hoping that John Lasseter will be given free creative reign to dream beyond movies and rides!!Scott M.
