Just a little break

EPCOT Central will be back soon. Unforeseen personal and professional commitments have kept me from posting new entries, but Step No. 7 (for those of you waiting breathlessly) will be posted in relatively short order. Thanks for your patience!

Epcot82,

I look forward to this blog. Just wanted to let you know I am waiting... and waiting... and waiting...

While earning my master's degree from Boston College, I had to do a research assignment on "something I was passionate about." I knew I wanted it to be about Disney, but it wasn't until I came across your blog that I "set in stone" my ideas. Much of what you write became the basis of my research paper. I wish Epcot had become Walt's dream, but I must admit that the things you write about in this blog are 100% accurate. It saddens me that a visionary such as yourself is not the kind of person in charge at this park. I visited WDW last in 2007 (April) - I still saw 'The Wand', the closed 'Wonders of Life', and the Nemo Seas.... I wasn't sure why it bothered me so (I hadn't, as yet, read your blog), but there was something about Nemo that disturbed me so. It was articulated brilliantly here. I have been a "dee-vote-eeeeeee" ever since June 2007 and I agree with your thoughts more often than not.

My firmest wish is that Disney executives someday understand the ideas you propose are long-term solutions... not the miserable 'quarterly' finance manipulations they seem to engage in all too often. Disney needs visionaries. Sadly, all they listen to is their current bottom line. Inevitably, that's the downfall of every business...

You are like the frantic blinking WARNING light, that Disney executives just don't want to believe or pay attention to. They will learn on their own time... and it will be far too late.

Hey Man, I know you're probably busy and I certainly wouldn't want to come across as insensitive to your priorities. I just want you to know that I love the way you put things into perspective and I'm eagerly awaiting your return to this blog. I share your passion for EPCOT Center because it was a place that I learned to love and appreciate as a kid. And I'd love to see Disney reach out to today's kids with the same expectations and respect that they used to have back in the day when I was young. I hope all is going well, and that you can return to the site soon.

Thank you very much, everyone -- for your comments here as well as your notes. I plan to return to writing this weekend, now that things are a little more stable!
